Chris Clapp

With over 20 years working in community health with a special focus on mental health and working with lgbtq+ communities, Chris has a passion for de-stigmatizing mental health, redefining how we understand mental health from a “wellness” perspective versus an “illness” perspective.

Chris Clapp holds a Master’s Degree in Social Work and is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

Chris believes in providing a safe, compassionate, non-judgmental space for all people to discover their fulsome selves to heal, grow and thrive. Besides extensive crisis and suicide risk assessment experience, Chris is certified in Intuitive Eating (Evelyn Tribole), Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy (REBT), Neuromeditation and Somatic Experiencing.

Chris also gets excited about community building and helping teams thrive. As a Certified Master Facilitator in both Core Gift Discovery and Personality Dimensions, Chris supports individuals and organizations to uncover their unique talents and skills and those of others they work alongside. Operating from an anti-oppressive, strength-based collaborative lens, Chris fundamentally believes in the healing that comes from the power of raw and real connections. Always learning, Chris is newly passionate about an alcohol-free lifestyle during unprecedented times.

We believe...

We Believe in inclusion. Everyone sits up at the kitchen table together. Everyone has a voice and everyone can be heard. We embrace diversity, inclusion and acceptance for all. We believe in unpacking our privilege. We are committed to creating a community where people of different backgrounds come together. Of different body sizes and types and abilities and colours. Of health at every size and of combatting weight stigma. We believe in a culture of kindness towards everyone.

We believe in exceptional service. We are intentional. We focus on results. We fail forward. We embrace mistakes and learn from them. We believe you can achieve anything if you are focused, hard-working and have a road map. We believe that accountability is fostered through community support and cohesion.

We believe in community. We can do more together. We believe in giving with no expectations. We believe in asking how can I help? How can I serve?  We believe in showing up together with and for others with our hands and our hearts.

We choose joy. We choose a positive mindset. We choose to practice gratitude every single day. We want to work in an environment with vibrational energy, the kind you can feel when you walk through our proverbial doors.  We understand that we must first manifest that feeling in ourselves before we can fill our space with it. So we choose laughter and happiness and dancing and smiles, not because we believe life is always easy or fun but because we know that even during the hard times, we have the ability to create our own light.

We believe in personal development. Continuous learning. Growth mindset. Stretching and expansion. We believe that everything is “figure-out-able”! We also know that growth feels uncomfortable and can be messy. We believe when we embrace the emotions and feelings that come with change, we grow to embrace discomfort and not resist it.

Striving for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Willow Wellness is committed to appreciating and standing up for the uniqueness of all of our identities. We recognize our privileges as able-bodied white women holding class privilege as settlers in Canada and are committed to anti-racism, anti-homophobia actions. We are passionate about celebrating all people with diverse sexual orientation and gender identity, race and culture, abilities, age, religion and are committed to our ongoing learning and unlearning.

Let's take care of our mental health.
